A goods train carrying coal was forced to a halt near Dhanbad bridge on Tuesday after a wheel on one of its wagons came off, causing a significant disruption on the railway line. The train was on its way from the CCL CP siding in Giridih to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, when the accident occurred on the track. This incident underscores the operational challenges faced by the Indian Railways, particularly on key freight routes.
The incident was immediately reported to senior officials by the train's driver and crew, who acted promptly to prevent any further mishap. Simultaneously, officials from both the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and the railway department rushed to the site to assess the damage and begin restoration work. The swift response from both teams was critical in ensuring that the situation was contained and that repairs could begin as quickly as possible.
The affected track, which runs from Giridih railway station to the CCL CP siding, is a vital artery for the transportation of coal. The train's inability to proceed to Prayagraj due to the damaged wagon has led to delays and logistical challenges. Teams are working on a war footing to repair the track and get the train moving again.
CCL employees, including General Manager Girish Kumar Rathore, PO GS Meena, and Manager Rajvardhan Kumar, were also informed of the incident. Their involvement highlights the close coordination required between the coal industry and the railways to manage such logistical breakdowns efficiently. The goods train's journey was planned via Giridih railway station and Koderma, and the accident has disrupted this key route.
